The Orkney Museum
Should you choose stay with us in Kirkwall for your holiday accommodation, then The Orkney Museum will be just 4-minutes’ walk away, and it is well worth a visit. This fascinating museum contains the story and rich history of the Orkney Islands from the Stone Ages to the present day.
The museum itself is an A-listed building, and first served as a house for the cathedral clergy, then as a home to the Baikie family of Tankerness. When you visit you can still see, within certain rooms of the museum, evidence of what the place would have looked like when used as a family home. While you are visiting the museum in Kirkwall, you could also take in the surrounding Tankerness House gardens, which are also well worth a visit.
The Pickaquoy Centre
The Pickaquoy centre offers a selection of activities and hosts an array of art displays and exhibitions for people of all ages and abilities.
